Day 1:

We begging early in Mérida. Our first stop will be about 1 hour later in a tropical cloud-forest focusing it the eco-systems contrast and some good wildlife sighting. As we continue, the route gives way to agricultural lands; coffee is the most interesting crop. We will also pass through some villages, and we will stop and look around. After lunch, we will leave the Andes and enter the depression of Maracaibo, where cattle ranching is the main business. We will arrive at the fishing village of Puerto Concha at around 15h:00. Here, we leave the car and board a boat to travel through tropical flooded forest to get to Maracaibo Lake (the biggest lake in South America), and from there, to Ologa Lagoon to reach our camp, in which accommodation is basic. On the way, it will be possible to observe toucans, freshwater dolphins, howler and cappuccino monkeys, and other different species, and explore the area before being escorted to the vantage point to view the Catatumbo lightning phenomenon in the evening. Overnight in a basic camp. Sleeping in hammocks, by the lagoon. Meals:  --, L, D

Day 2:

After breakfast, we will depart by boat and go through the mangroves to observe thousands of different species of birds and other wild animals. After this, we will return to Puerto Concha, and from there, we will take our way back to Merida and we will bring you to your posada for a well deserved rest. Meals:  B, L, --
