This expedition in the south of Venezuela will take you close to the Autana tepui. The trip is mainly by boat, sailing along the Autana River and keeping close to the river bank so that you can go on walks to visit, among others, a Piaroa community; you will spend the night here, joining in with the villagers and their shaman. It won’t be possible to visit the Autana tepui, only to observe it from a distance, as it is considered sacred territory by the local Piaroa people.
Day 1: You will be picked up at the Orinoquia Lodge after your breakfast. Departure by jeep to Samariapo Port (1 hour). Go by boat along the Orinoco River, from which we will go along the Sipapo River. We will stop in a place of extraordinary beauty for a refreshing bathe and lunch. After, we will continue to the beginning of the Autana River. We will overnight in a Piaroas Indian village. We will visit the comunity and the surroundings to learn about their daily activities. (Sleep in hammocks). Meals: -/ L/ D.
Day 2: 08:30am. We start our excursion along the Autana River to the Raudal de Ceguera, which is the closest point to the Tepuy Autana. Visit the indian community, go trekking in the jungle guided by a local which will enhance the experience and get a different view of the Autana. Return to Ceguera to enjoy this fantastic place and to overnight. (Sleeping in hammocks). Meals: B/ L/ D.
Day 3: 08:30am. We will sail back along the Autana River and stopon the banks of the Sipapo River for lunch. We will visit an Indian community to learn a little about their culture then sail along the Orinoco River to reach Samariapo port. Transfer by jeep to Puerto Ayacucho, overnight in a hotel (in double or twin room with air conditioning and private bathroom). Meals B/ L/ D.
